Great Pyrenees
Meet “Cloudy” an 8 year old Great Pyrenees.
Pyrenees are bred to be guard dogs and that is her sole responsibility at “Hidden Pastures Luxury Fiber Farm” in Branchville.
At about 10pm, the main gates to the farm are closed and “Cloudy” patrols 23 acres, home to alpacas, llamas, angora rabbits, sheep and Tibetan yaks. “Cloudy” discourages any beasts from trespassing, namely bears and coyotes.
Pyrenees are gentle and easy going, but are very task oriented.
In this photo, “Cloudy” is sticking like velcro to “Zak”, the yak calf. Seems “Zak” wandered off the farm and “Cloudy” remained with him all the way into the village of Branchville.
What a scene that must have been! Luckily, no one was injured, no one panicked…just some amazed village folk.
